well, I was in auckland city the other day, wondering around, went to aotea square, and the fuckin fountain was getting pulled down!! seriously so fuckin bizarre to see it happening, I remember seeing an episode of mountain dew on the edge when I was 13 or 14, and seeing phil urwin and team wallride riding aotea square and completely shredding shit, I then made it my life mission that next time my family came to auckland that I get to bring my bike and ride the fountain, a year later I achieved that, if you have ridden the fountain, then you know how totally awesome it is!!! and the amount of nuts shit that has happened on it both riding and skating as well, this fuckin fountain has been around the world so many times!!! anyways, I shot a few pics with the olde iphone while I was there and sent them to zombie mike, peep his page to see it, was trying hard to hold back the tears!

p.s-Glenn Becker put the shutdown on this thing on that mountain dew on the edge segment with the fakie wallride one of the most amazing things to see on video!

So another post, this one's a lil bit closer to home, but fuck it I say, guess this is what blogs are for sometimes, just to vent a few lil things that are happening. So I found out a few months ago that my dad has a few months to live, he has lung cancer. Probably the shittest thing to ever happen in my life, he never smoked, and got a cold one day (he's a doctor by the way) and thought it was nothing, he got a really bad cough and my mum suggested he go get it checked, one week later he was in hospital all connected to machines and shit and being told that he has cancer encasing his right lung. All came as a bit of a shock to say the least. If you've known someone who had cancer or know someone who is dealing with cancer at the moment then you know how much of a gnarly disease it is. The shit thing is that he and my mum have been together for 30 years, and he was her only boyfriend and vice versa, they had built a life together and were looking forward to growing old together and life deals this out. He has always been my inspiration for my whole bike riding life and it's a bitter pill to swallow talking to someone who only has a certain amount of time left in this world. He's done shitloads of stuff for maori heath here in nz, and a TV programme filmed a lil piece on him a while ago, you can check it out here if you want to. Anyways, I just thought that I would share this shit with ya, if you're reading this then thanks a bunch, I guess the biggest thing for me is not so much the fact that I'm losing my dad, its that my daughter is losing her poppa, which is the hardest thing to deal with.

So anyways, this is a bit of a rant as I've got 5 minutes free at work, but i tells ya, what the hell happened to the good old days of BMX!! The days when you would ride everything, wake up early as fuck on a saturday morning, be in the shed polishing your ride and tinkering around, ride down to your mates house, read issues of bmx plus for a while, then go streetride first thing in the morning, after that hook up with a few more people, usually at a designated spot, maybe combine a couple of dollars and go get some scoops of chips and bottle of fizzy from pak n save, after that go to the skatepark and ride, dodging the skaters cause you's were the only bmxers (and there weren't any of those fag single speed mtber's!!) ride there for a while, maybe session the flyout, then go ride the bmx track after that, if you were lucky there may have been racing on that afternoon!! buy an iceblock and some lollies form the track mum that runs the canteen, and ride the track in between moto's! if you were lucky you would know a kid who was racing and you could hangout at their dads car and read more bmx plus's and look at his dialed bike. After that another street ride and then home for dinner at your mates place, maybe ring mum and ask if it's sweet to stay at his house, get his mum to talk to your mum to confirm that it's sweet, then if your lucky maybe takeaways for dinner, and then spend a few hours in the shed polishing bike parts and making stickers and applying them and re-applying them to make sure that all the lines are straight, then read some more bmx plus's and then maybe watch rad or ride on or cheese or the bully vid, then sleep, wake up in the morn and do it all over again!! those were the goodtimes for me, when you saw another rider on the street and you were instantly friends! and it was ALWAYS crazy when you met another rider from another city! these days there's soooo many kids around, the first thing they're interested in your bike, ha, and if you run brakes or not, and if you've got the latest lotek kicks on (don't get me wrong, loteks are sweet, just usng them as an example) and such. Seems these days that kids are too scared to do their own thing, to run their bike a certain way or dress how they want, hell, even the tricks!!! anyways, this is a bit or a pointless rant, but just do the shit that you want to do and have fun, front brakes, four pegs, freecoaster, whatever the fuckin set up is, it's all bmx kn arse! but bring back the old days, roasting airs, wheelies, and peregrine 48's!!!

so the weather was turgent again in the weekend, was hoping to do some shit to the ramp but hopefully this weekend!!! fuckin weather, and its monday and its fine, the weather can go get fucked! Was parousing the net today and found this video on bmxonline. Fuckin awesome to see Nasty shredding it! He has always been one of my favourite riders to watch, smooth and gnarly. I remember back in the day watching his props interview and he was just a lil kid. then there was that crazy movie that came out about him, which showed him as some sort of glammed up superstar. I did think that was a lil bit fishy! And then there was of course the horrific car crash that almost took his life and left him in a wheelchair for almost a year. Amazing to see someone going form a broken neck to throwing down crazy flipwhips and shit on these big fuckin jumps! madness! Tha nasty dogg will always be a fav, and also, cool to see Puppa Parslow as well, alot of people think he's a dick or whatever, but I think he's a really nice guy, sure he gets a lil bit egged up when on the loose juice, but one on one he's a really chill dude. I remember once at xair we were sitting having a drink, and he was telling me that his drive to become a better rider and person, has always been his dad, motivating him and telling him he can do anything he puts his mind to, he must be one proud dad today and also, at school he was never good at anything, and some teachers would tell him that he's never gonna do anything with his life cause he was always goofing off and messing around, I bet they have changed their tunes now. Another funny fact that people may or may not know is that Parslow is actually form New Zealand, he grew up in Whakatane, a small coastal town on the east coast of the north island. Ha, and here's a pic of nasty and myself, I think we were talking about babies, nappy changing to be precise! ahaha!!

On Sunday we had a lil bit of a gethering shoreside, it was a fuckin awesome time, Jswiz from redbull came over with teh humemr and we went for a lazy bike ride round devo, it was stinking hot so we found a nice spot in bayswater and chilled hard with hot chip sandwichesm some beers and some swet sounds from the hummer, my only regret is that the tide was higher to go for a swim, goodtimes! here's some pics from the day, and also some of 666 mike riding his trackbike and me and my piece of shit bike that looks like a track bike but is actually a trip to the hospital waiting to happen! Everyone has a favourite rider right!!?? someone who, when they were growing up riding thought, 'man, that guy is fuckin awesome!' From either to how they set their bike up, to the freakin awesome tricks they would do! In the early years, when I first started riding, I thought guys like Mike Krnaich, Mike Dominguiez, Vic Murphy, Perry Mervar, The Gute, Ruben Castillo, Manual De La Cruz, were the Bees Knees! But probably the one rider who I thought was absoultly fuckin awesome was Jerry Galley! If you ain't heard of jerry Galley, then I suggest you look for a video called Nails In the coffin by bicycle union, or any of the seventies vids, or Angus vids to name a few. His biggest appeal to me was that he would just blast the shit out of ramps, roasting gnarly tables, turndowns and no handers to name a few. And he was smooth as well! He rode for King bikes for a while, ya know, Stuart Kings company, probably one of the best bike companies ever, stuart kings dad was a race car designer, so everything was precision made, and the King liberty frame paved the way to how many frames look today. As time went by, Jerry Galley sorta went 'undercover' but I've heard rumours of him turning up to playstation skatepark in London, shredding the shit out of it, then leaving. All while wearing an open face helmet and shorts! Anyways, if you're on the net and you see a Jerry Galley vid watch it, and be amazed at dis bad ass englishman!

Man O man, it was like raiders of the lost ark, wehen we finally got the heavily bolted door open we were greeted by a curtain of cobwebs and spiders, behind which was enough bike stuff to make any bike rider cream their trousers! Too White has been collecting for a while now, and it shows, he has boxes upon boxes of bike parts you didn't even know existed! and not all just bmx, lots of road bike stuff and track bike shit, and almost all of his stuff is in tip top condition, anywayas, here's a couple of Gems that got pulled out from the stash, expect some mroe pics and product descriptions when he finally unpacks it all next year, yikes!!!

ha, so I was crusing http://www.trademe.co.nz/ the other day, (for people from outside of NZ, its like ebay but locally made) and I came across this doozy! a freestyle starter kit, wow, everything you need to have a sick ride and start doing radical tricks like 'tailwhips' and 'barspins' and people who have no clue about riding will question you bout how them there rear calipers work! My only issue is that in this pic there's no bottom race! the one that sits under you lower cup. But I have been assured by the seller that it will come with the race, they just forgot to put it in the pic. anyways, it would def look sick on a ride so go and bid for it here:
